Ball catches are small pieces of door hardware scribed into the top of the frame to secure doors when a latch or lock is unnecessary, They’re ideal for doors without a standard latching system. (You will still need a pull or dummy handle to open door)

This Invisible latch is ideal for installations where no visible latch is desired. Latch are to be installed by you at the top, bottom or side of the door. Latch has to be surface mounted at the job site to the door jamb (not to the frame). Operation is simple, latching is accomplished by a slight push. To unlatch the door, a harder push releases the door and pushes the door out. In other words, you should also install a simple handle on the back of the door. If you get looked in you have to pull the handle towards you to open the door. (Not recommended for bedrooms or bathrooms.)
